My cat is matted, but I do not want him shaved. Why can't you brush him out?

Brushing out a matted cat is very painful for the cat. It is like pulling your hair out by the roots. I will not put your cat through that. I will shave the cat and then you can start a regular grooming schedule to prevent matting in the future.
